3. Customizable rental terms

You can create unlimited 'from/till' days term and price for every product. Like it is shown on a screen shot below.

4. Calendars to choose rental terms on the front-end

Customers select from/till dates with the help of calendar on the front-end. Admin can customize the number of months shown on the calendar on the front-end and set its number per row.

There is also a possibility to use space-saving calendar (default Joomla calendar).

5. Deposit & Insurance fields

Every product has extra deposit and insurance field. In case if Admin doesn't fill in the field, it is not enabled on the front-end.

6. Availability checking

In case if the product customer chooses has been already rented and is not currently available, our plugin doesn't allow customer to add it to his cart and pay for rental.

7. Blocking days for paid/pending orders

Admin can allow customers to rent the same product unlimited number of times or can limit it to one time only. Also, he can block rent days for the number of hours he selects in settings.

8. Possibility to sale and rent the same item

Plugin makes possible to choose whether you want to have only rent functionality for the definite product or prefer both saling and renting the item.

1. I have installed the plugin successfully but I can't find it. Where should I go to find it?

Make sure that you have enabled the plugin and also installed VirtueMart component. Then please go to VirtueMart >> Products >> Custom Fields. To see the plugin you need to add Custom Field and only after that you will see the plugin in Products >> Custom Fields. Please read our Documentation with screen shots to do it properly.

2. The correct price is not displayed in the cart anymore. It is always set to 0. What am I doing wrong?

There is a bug in VirtueMart Component with custom fields that you should fix, otherwise the price won't be displayed properly. We have passed the bug to VM team so they could include the fix to the next release.

Meanwhile, please find the lines that should be fixed below:

In the file: /administrator/components/com_virtuemart/plugins/vmcustomplugin.php
find the line >>
return $pluginFields[$productCustomsPrice->virtuemart_customfield_id][$this->_name];
and replace it by the correct line >>
return $pluginFields[$productCustomsPrice->virtuemart_custom_id][$this->_name];

3. I have set up everything as it is displayed on your screen shots but I can't see calendar. Why?

Please check if Cart Attribute in Custom Field is set to Yes (please view Documentation).

Please check if your main product and child products are assigned to any category.

4. How many sites can I create with the plugin?

The number of domains/sites you can use the plugin on is unlimited.

5. Which versions of Joomla CMS and VirtueMart does the plugin support?

It supports only Joomla 2.5.x and VirtueMart 2.0.6 and 2.0.8

Step-by-step Documentation

Part 1. How to Install

Please log into your site Joomla Administration and click on Extension Manager. Choose a file with the plugin and Upload it. If you can see the message displayed on a screen shot, it means that the plugin has been installed successfully.

Make sure that the plugin is enabled. Go to Plugin Manager, select the type vmcustom and publish the plugin.

Part 2. How to Use

We've found out that there is a bug in VM custom fields that you should fix before using FW VirtueMart Rental Plugin. Please find the lines that should be fixed below:

In the file: /administrator/components/com_virtuemart/plugins/vmcustomplugin.php
find the line >>
return $pluginFields[$productCustomsPrice->virtuemart_customfield_id][$this->_name];
and replace it by the correct line >>
return $pluginFields[$productCustomsPrice->virtuemart_custom_id][$this->_name];

Make sure that the plugin is enabled (Plugin Manager) and the component VirtueMart is also installed on your website. Then please go to VirtueMart component and click on Custom Fields. To use rental plugin you need to add a custom field in VirtueMart.

Click on Add new button and fill in new Custom Field form as it is displayed on screen shots below. Make sure that field Cart Attribute is set to Yes! Please do not forget to click Save button.

After move to Products and click on the product you want to offer for rent to configure it properly. 

When clicking on the product go to Custom Fields tab where you will find Plugins section. Please enter number of days singled out on a screen shot. Use single figures without words or letters.

Then please enter the price for each range of days. If you want hide the range, just remove the tick in a check box. If you want to delete it, please click on Delete button.

When choosing rent days on the front-end, plugin will calculate the price and give you the total price with /without deposit and insurance.

In the end you will have several child products of one product that you offer for rent. Please note that these child products shouldn't be assigned to any of the categories and have no price like it is shown on a screen shot below:
