FW Gallery Instagram Plugin: configuration and settings

In this tutorial, we will learn how to import images from your Instagram account. If you have Front-end manager installed your users will be able to import images from their Instagram account as well. To learn how to import Instagram images via front-end manager, review Front-end manager tutorial.

In order to link to your Instagram account, you need to receive API key and Secret key. To get these keys, log in to your Instagram account and register your application. Review Instagram documentation to learn how to register a new application.

As soon as you registered your app, you need to pass authentication to get a Live status. If the application gets Live status, you will be allowed to upload images from your Instagram album.

How to import images from Instagram account

When API key and Secret keys are received, you can proceed with images importing. To learn how to import Instagram images, do the following.

First, let’s enable FW Gallery Instagram Plugin:

  1. Go to the Add-ons section following Components=>FW Gallery=>Add-ons direction.

  2. Find FW Gallery Instagram Plugin in the list and enable it. Use add-ons filter to filter add-ons by type.

Once the plugin is enabled, let’s link to your Instagram account.

  1. Locate FW Gallery Instagram Import Plugin settings following Extensions=>Plugins direction.

  2. Find FW Gallery Instagram Import Plugin using the search box and click on it.

  1. Enter Api Key and Secret Key you received upon passing authentication in Instagram.

  2. Locate Redirect URI field and copy the link from here.

  1. Access Instagram Manage Client section of your application.

  2. Locate Security tab and enter the Redirect URI you have copied from plugin settings above.

  3. Click Update Client to save application settings.

  1. Locate FW Gallery Data Management section following Component=>FW Gallery=>Data Management direction.

  2. Locate Instagram images import section.

  3. Click Link Instagram Account.

  4. Choose target FW Gallery where the images will be imported.

  5. Click Import from Instagram button to start importing. Your screen should look similar to the screenshot below.

You can stop importing in the middle of the process clicking the stop button.
