Single gallery layout configuration and settings

In this tutorial, we will learn how to display single and multiple galleries on the front-end of your website using single gallery layout. We will also learn how to configure single gallery layout. The single gallery layout allows to create a simple and intuitive view of either single or multiple galleries in either of 5 designs - Default, Masonry, Pinterest, Polaroids, and Classic.

We will proceed as follows:

How to display single/multiple galleries using single gallery layout

To display single/multiple galleries on the front-end of your website, you need to create a menu item and assign Single Gallery layout to it.

First, let’s create a menu item. To create a menu item, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to your administrator panel using your credentials.

  2. Locate Menus dropdown in the top menu of your Joomla control panel and click on it.

  3. Choose Main Menu => Add New Menu Item item from the dropdown.

  1. Locate Menu Title textbox and enter Gallery with subgalleries into it.

Now, let’s assign Single gallery layout to a menu item we have just created.

  1. Locate Details tab.

  2. Locate Menu Item Type field and click Select.

  1. Locate FW Gallery dropdown.

  2. Choose Single gallery layout from the list.

After you are done, your screen should look similar to the screenshot below.

  1. Locate Options tab.

  2. Mouse over Select Gallery dropdown:

  • Choose Root menu item. As a result, all galleries you have on your website will be displayed.

  • Choose a particular gallery from the dropdown if you want to display a single gallery without subgalleries for the newly created menu item.
  1. Locate Select Tags field and enter the required tags. As a result, all files with the same tags will be displayed for this menu item.

How to configure single gallery layout

Now, let’s configure Gallery with subgalleries view using single gallery layout settings.

Set all settings in the Options tab as is shown on the screenshots below and click Save button.

Once the settings in the Options tab are changed your menu layout on the front-end changes accordingly. See the changes in the screenshots below.
